Today, I started writing commentary about various news items I had read. Then I stopped. Why? Because I really don’t believe someone (that would be me) who supported our Government invading Iraq really has any business commenting on anything to do with that fiasco. I could add to what I just wrote but I won’t, at least not at this time. That is not to say that I won’t do so in the future, but, not now.
Yun and I went shopping at our not so local Korean food store, Hanmi (abbreviation for Hanguk and Miguk). They sell a variety of prepared, frozen, canned, and fresh Asian food products and if they don't have what you want, buy something else. It's all good there. Yun brought home some Chamoe (Korean and English name).
Chamoe is a Korean melon that tastes like a cross between a honeydew melon and a cucumber, and is usually eaten as you would eat cantaloupe. Interestingly, Melon is the Korean word for Cantaloupe and it tastes like a cross between an American cantaloupe and honeydew. But Yun didn’t buy Melon, she bought Chamoe. I have it on good authority from Yun that Michelle and Steven loves to eat Chamoe. We’ll try to save some for them but I can’t personally guarantee it. Uh-oh, I just heard their coming to pick up some things. I have a feeling Chamoe may be one of them
Yun also brought some Korean food home for lunch. Ssaengchae (fresh shredded radish with red pepper flakes and other stuff), Daeng Jang soup (Fermented bean paste base with spinach leaves added), Kong Chi (a type of fish that was fried). And, of course, we had rice (that ubiquitous white seed that half the world considers to be their main food).
Tonight, since the kids are coming Yun is preparing fried wonton (stuffed dumplings) and chicken (stir fried with vegetables). And there is more than enough left from lunch to enjoyment tonight.
She’s in the kitchen as I type this. She is a damn good cook, the kind of cook that that never looks at a recipe. Well, hardly ever, and then not more than once.
